Allie Wheat is a Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern dedicated to helping children, caregivers, and families feel seen, heard, and supported. She earned her Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from National Louis University and her Bachelor's degree in Human Development and Family Sciences from Florida State University.

Allie is passionate about providing developmentally appropriate, accessible, and adaptive therapeutic care that honors each child's unique strengths, abilities, and experiences. Her work focuses on early childhood interventions, strengthening parent-child relationships, and helping families navigate life's challenges with compassion and support.

She has a special interest in supporting children and families navigating neurodivergence, chronic illness, trauma, PTSD, anxiety, depression, grief, and life transitions. Allie believes every individual should be recognized for their strengths rather than defined by their challenges. She is particularly passionate about accessibility and inclusion, ensuring that every child has the opportunity to feel understood and supported.

Allie's therapeutic approach incorporates Child-Centered Play Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness, bibliotherapy, and both directive and nondirective play interventions. She uses these approaches to support emotional expression, self-regulation, coping skills, and resilience. Allie also values collaboration with caregivers, educators, and multidisciplinary providers to create consistent support across home, school, and community settings while empowering parents with practical tools to support their child's growth outside of therapy.

Allie believes in the healing power of play, recognizing that it is a child's natural language. By meeting children where they are developmentally and honoring their individual pace, she strives to foster confidence, emotional expression, and resilience while strengthening the relationships that matter most.
