Clinical Social Work Student Intern
Shaylyn is a Social Work Student Intern at Stars Counseling.
She graduated from Rutgers University with a Bachelor of Arts and Sciences in Psychology. She is currently enrolled in the graduate program at the University of Central Florida where she is earning her Master’s degree in Clinical Social Work.
Shaylyn's experiences range from serving the adult population in a hospital setting as a Rehabilitation Technician to interning with the case management department.
Most recently she is serving children, adolescents, and adults in an inpatient psychiatric unit as a Mental Health Technician, where she is certified in Crisis Prevention Intervention and Mental Health First Aid. Her responsibilities include facilitating group sessions with children and adolescents that focus on self-esteem building and establishing goals and encouraging patients to utilize healthy coping strategies.
Shaylyn's passion for mental health stems from her own transformative experience receiving therapy; inspiring her to help others find healing and support while on their own journey.
